Illusions Of Space
Did you know that paint color can actually alter the dimensions of a room? Not
in the literal sense but it can alter how the dimensions are perceived which is
the next best thing.
CREATING SPACE
A light colored paint will make a small room appear bigger. Clever use for example would be to paint a ceiling white to give extra height to a room. Painting walls with vertical stripes can enhance the sense of height. This can be useful in a kid's play room.
MAKING A ROOM MORE COSY
Use of darker colors draws surfaces in making a large room seem smaller and more intimate. If you have a room which is too narrow and long, just "widen" it by painting the shorter walls a deeper color than the longer walls. These schemes can be useful in widening hallways.
